I hope you are having a good week.  

We finally got whomped with snow
around here on Valentine's day
...about 24 inches in my backyard.  

I received a nice email this weekend 
from a subscriber who had invested
in my 'How To Own Your Paycheck 
Again!' program recently. She
recounted the positive changes in
their lives.  It was all very flattering
but I deserve little credit...they took
the action.

They mentioned a question they now
ask when faced with a decision...
'what would Leo do?' Again, flattering
and it made me chuckle because at the
same time I was reading a book entitled,
'Why Not?  How to use everyday ingenuity
to solve problems big and small'

 That book suggests asking the question
'What would Croesus do?' for coming
up with creative ideas. Croesus was the
supremely rich king of Lydia (modern
day Turkey), reigning from 560 to 546 A.D.  

How HE would solve problems, with
his vast riches, is probably much different
than you or I.  That's not to say, however,
that we could not benefit by imagining how
he might solve our problem/challenge.

 This also made me recall a book I'd read
some time ago entitled
'10 Days To A Great New Life'.

That book proposed the interesting question...

'Imagine that you're suddenly faced with
the necessity of doing things on ten times
the scale you're now operating.'

 -Your group needs to raise $2,000 for 
new equipment.   You'd probably come
up with all the usual ideas...bake sales,
charity auctions, magazine sales etc.
etc. etc.  What if your group had to
come up with $20,000 instead?  How
would your thinking expand?

 -You need to get 10 new customers this
month.  What if you had to get 100 new
customers this month?

 You get the idea. Personally, I LOVE
stuff life this.  I carry a small digital
recorder around with me at all times
for when I get ideas. 

 For 15 years I was a volunteer at a
nearby conference on 'The Positive
Power of Humor and Creativity'.  I
was able to see and meet some big
names in, well, humor and creativity....
Jack Canfield, Art Buchwald, Steve
Allen, Soupy Sales, The Smothers
Brothers, David Hyde Pierce and
Sid Cesaer to name a few.

Last year they changed the format to a
cruise ship and my volunteer services
were not needed. (darn it).

Luckily they moved back on land and
the conference this year is in June.

I can't recall where I heard it but one
of my favorite sayings is 'you don't
have money problems, you have idea
problems'.

And if you think about it, that saying is
absolutely true. There are, no doubt,
millions of stories of people in bad
financial shape who had one idea...
took action on that idea...and turned
their lives around.

I only wish I'd pursued my ideas of
placing advertising before movies in
theaters or placing advertising above
urinals or in public bathroom stalls.   :>)

So get out there and start THINKING!
