Greetings from the chilly Northeast.  We had widespread power outages
this week caused by an ice storm but my street was spared...except
for the cable TV/Internet service, but I survived. :>)

It is fun to walk around at times like this and I'm grateful I
didn't have to drive anywhere.  Each blade of grass and tree limb,
it seems, has its own sheath of ice.  I don't ever recall having
seen that before on blades of grass.

Today has been credit report day for me.  I awoke with
the urge to see where my credit scores stand.



I can't seem to put my finger on the newsletter where I first talked
about it, but in July of 2005 I looked at my credit scores for
the first time in awhile.  It turns out that after 10 years of never
applying for consumer credit I had poor credit scores. 

I set out to improve that by getting a credit card and auto loan for
the first time in over 10 years.

This morning I went to http://www.MyFico.com/12
to get my most recent credit scores AND negative reason codes.

Negative reason codes explain exactly what is preventing your
credit scores from being as high as they could be.

I was only able to get two of the three immediately,
and I know my scores are up at this point but I'm not sure
how much.

As usual, one of the credit reports, the one with the lowest score,
included two entries from my father's credit report.  He is Leo Sr.

Let that be a warning to you if you plan to have children...
don't name of them after yourself, and certainly don't
name them Leo!

Both Transunion and Experian have online dispute forms,
so I am in the process of disputing inaccuracies on both
reports.

For some reason I was not able to get my Equifax report
immediately, and I've requested that off-line.

I will keep you posted on the dispute process and how it
affects my scores.
