THIS ISSUE: How did that church raise money?
(Over $300,000 and counting...)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks for reading.
Luckily I didn't get buried in email this week from people letting
me know there the $5 ATMs were in their area!
If you don't know what I'm talking about then you missed my email
from last Friday. Read it on my blog at:

Since this is the last few days before Christmas I thought it would
be good to learn what those church members did with their part of
the $40,000 handed out in early November. They returned over
$300,000 to the church in just one month.
If you haven't been following that story, get the background in my
newsletter archives at:

It seems the most popular way these folks raised money for their
church was to use the money to buy something and then hold a raffle.
This was done with, among other things, an Ipod, a Playstation 3, and
a fancy dinner package at a restaurant.
One family had a party at their house and they had a 50/50
drawing...raffles and door prizes.
Another family held a fundraiser at a local roller skating rink and
used their $50 to publicize the event.
One lady used the $50 to sell her Mazda Protégé
which was worth
around $5,000.
One gentleman was Chatteling and he probably didn't even know it!
He had some old dental equipment lying around that he put on ebay
and sold for $537.77. He sold an old set
of golf clubs to a
friend for $100. He sold an old washer/dryer combo for $300.

Another family decided to make and sell BOOKMARKS! At last
report
they had made 140 bookmarks together as a family and were selling
them via emails to friends and relatives.
I don't know about you but hearing examples like this really make
me feel good. It just goes to show you how resourceful people
can
be.
These people felt empowered because they could say to their friends
and relatives...'we are doing this to raise money for our church'.
I suspect many of these same people would feel embarrassed to
involve their friends and relatives in their money-making efforts
for themselves.
If that's you, I encourage you to read an article I wrote called
'Forget 'Thinking' Outside The Box...GET Outside The Box!'

P.S. There is an amazing give-away being put on
by my mentor Mark Hendricks called the '12 Days
of Christmas'. At first glance you'd think most
of the gifts would be for people with websites
but there is plenty of great stuff for everyone.

Shortly after I read about the church family that
was making BOOKMARKS to raise money I stumbled
upon a gentleman who explains just how to do it.
I figured the timing of my discovery was a sign!

The first thing I ever bought online was a book by Jim
Daniels on the topic of email. I think that was way back in
1998.
Jim is still putting out great stuff and you can learn a lot just
by watching him. He has a new report called 'The New Age
Wo*rk at
Home Plan: Internet-Based Financial Independence in 10 SimpleSteps'

Leo-
Thanks for the link to Emergency Cas*h Generators! I don't
usually
fall for such things, since most of them are rip-offs, but I took a
chance on this one because the link came from you. And I love
it!
The ideas are original and clever. There's an idea there for
just
about anyone -- extravert or introvert -- and it's triggered so
many additional ideas of my own! LuAnn.

Most of this newsletter was 'written' using a computer
program called Dragon Naturally Speaking. I talked and it
typed. I
tried programs like this almost 10 years ago and was not happy with
the results. I absolutely love this program. I may never type
again. Of course, it's not perfect. But if you do a lot of
typing
and it hurts your hands this is something you definitely want to
investigate. I'm able to talk at pretty much normal speed
without
sounding like a robot. Get more details on this program at:

Have you had any experiences with Consumer Credit Counseling
Services? If so, please write to me with your experiences.
I get a lot of inquiries about CCCS but I know very little
about them.

Do you have kids?...do you have to feed them? My friend
Kindy has a great new site where you can get some great ideas
for feeding the little...darlings during the holidays.
