I got one complaint about me resending a link to the online
newsletter the day after the original. Last week 1409 people
clicked on the link in the resend. That tells me a lot of people
aren't getting the original so the RESEND will continue. It's
clearly marked RESEND so if you got the original delete the RESEND.
If that irritates you, the unsubscribe link it as the bottom.

I need a favor...I'm in the process of getting my business approved
by the Better Business Bureau. Apparently my good looks aren't
enough and they want the name, address and phone number of 5 people
who have been helped by my information.

I have good credit. I also have a low interest rate credit card with a
big balance that I want to pay off faster. Do you think that, if I
called and requested a lower int*erest rate, they would give it to
me? How can I negotiate a better rate for myself, without screwing
up my credit? Thanks, Nancy
Hi Nancy:
Thanks for your question. First, I know of no reason why calling
and asking for a lower rate would screw up your credit.
If you call and ask for a lower rate will they give you one? Hard
to tell but your odds are MUCH better than the lottery.
I encourage you to call but first, do you homework.
Are you getting offers for low interest rate credit cards in the
mail?...or are you
aware of offers..perhaps on the internet?
How long have you been a customer?
Do you have a history of on-time payments?
The longer you've been a customer and a history of on-time payments
are in your favor as are offers of lower rates from competitors.
"Hi...I've been a customer of yours for X years...I've been very happy
with your customer service. I was looking over my bill recently
and noticed my interest rate is...X. Today I got an offer from ABC
bank and their offer is Y... DO YOU THINK I SHOULD SWITCH?"
Notice you're not asking for a lower rate, you're asking for their
advice! Expect to hear some sputtering because they probably
aren't used to that question. They may even laugh.
What can they say? Their money is the same color...ABC bank has 24
hour customer service too.
If they do say "no" ask for an explanation and then ask to speak to
a supervisor. A gal in one of my classes told me it took her 7
transfers on the same call before she got a lower rate. THAT'S
persistence.
A former credit card company customer service rep took my class and
told us she was authorized to grant discounts of 2-6% for callers
who asked.
When you are granted a discount say "Is that the best you can do?"
If they say "yes" and you are happy with that get their ID# and ask
them to send you a letter outlining what you've discussed. If you
are not happy with the rate they offer...say thank you and ask to
speak to their supervisor. Can you beat 7 transfers?
You really have nothing to lose by making the call. Even if you
think it's a longshot or you've been turn*ed down before, give it a
try. Low interest rate credit cards are a VERY competitive
business
and their policies change all the time.
If you're still bashful and you have kids, have them make the call.
Do they accept a "no" from you? Put that persistence to work on
the credit card companies! :>)
