Where is that pesky tax refund you are waiting for?  One way to find out
is to use 'Where's My Refund?' an interactive tool on IRS.gov.

You can also call the IRS TeleTax System at 1-800-829-4477 or the IRS
Refund Hotline at 1-800-829-1954. When you call, you will need to
provide the first Social Security number shown on the return, your filing
status and the amount of the refund. If the IRS processed your return, the
system will tell you the date your refund will be sent. It's updated every
week so wait at least a week before you call back.


A seminar I attended last week included presentations by Jim McCann, Jim
Rohn and Sidney Biddle Barrows.  The Mayflower Madam, the founder of
1-800-FLOWERS and the grand-daddy of all personal development speakers...
not necessarily in that order!  Quite a group, huh?

Jim Rohn...the grand-daddy guy...had some great ideas that pertain
to what we do 'here'.

My favorite quote of his was 'Rich people have big libraries...poor people
have big TVs.'

'Time and money invested in self-education is a GREAT investment'

'Your income is primarily determined by your philosophy, not the
economy'

He went on to explain that in this country we have an unbelievable
income ladder ranging from $5 an hour to $36,000,000 per year...give
or take.

There are several philosophies that will get you moving up the ladder:

1) Wait for the government to require you be paid more.
2) Wait for the company to offer more.
3) Go on strike. (risky to do by yourself)
4) Productivity and performance...arrive early, leave late, educate
yourself, get a lot done...high activity.  If your current employer
doesn't appreciate you someone else will...or go out on your own.

A friend owns a retail shop with about 6 employees.  One of those just
returned after a three week vacation and she knew he was back because
of the condition of the back room.  It was spotless, unlike the three
weeks he was gone.  He's the favorite employee and makes the most
and gets the most perks.  Common sense really.



So, honestly, which is your philosophy?  If it is 1,2 or 3...change it to
#4 ASAP!!  No one cares as much about you as you.  Become so valuable to
your employer that they stay awake nights worrying that you'll leave.
