Helllo!

I hope you had a great Summer.  I know the calendar says it's still
Summer but as I learned yesterday CLIMATOLOGICALLY, Summer is June,
July and August.  So now you've learned your word of the day.

You've seen stuff on the curb with a "FREE" sign on it? I
remember years ago some good friends were emptying the house of a
deceased relative.  They filled the dumpster numerous times but
only had to empty it once.  The locals helped themselves to most of
it.

Now, even this has entered the computer age.  Freecycle.org is a
community of people across the country who give away stuff they
don't need to anyone who will come and get it.  Beds, bikes,
curtains, books...just about anything you can think of...even
bricks!

My good friend, Dan Butler over at TNPC Newsletter (www.tnpcnewsletter.com)
told me about his story of giving away bricks and wrote about it in his newsletter.  I've reprinted
that article below.  By the way, Dan has 10 kids so stop YOUR
complaining!

The Freecycle.org Network (by Dan Butler)
Copyright 2005

We recently did some home remodeling and ended up with over 1,500
bricks stacked on my back porch. They were in good shape and just
needed a little cleaning up. The only problem was, nobody in our
little town seemed to want them. Then one day last week I heard
about Freecycle.org.

At Freecycle people post items they are offering or items they
are looking for. The organizers encourage you to post more offers
that requests. Then other members of the group contact you with
their desires. What's the catch? You can't charge or offer
trades. This is supposed to be free to the giver or taker.

So what about my bricks? I joined the group Thursday and noticed
a person looking for some bricks to line the bottom of his
storage building. I wrote him privately but didn't hear back.
Friday I posted to the list. By the end of the day five people
contacted me. The first person just left with a trunk full of
bricks. I've called the next person and they want them to use at
the Humane Society for floors and dog houses.

Total time on my part? Less than it took me to make the flyer for
the local supermarket.

So how does the Freecycle Network work? When you go to their web
site you'll see they have subcategories for different regions of
the United States and other areas around the world. You pick the
area near you and sign up to be part of the group. The group I
joined used Yahoo! Groups to handle the emails and exchanges of
postings. So you can receive them in email or check them at a web
site.

If you have some things that could find a good home, give
Freecycle a try. You may be surprised.

P.S.  "1000 Ways To Make Money" is a huge e-book with a slew of good
ideas for making extra money.  You can read some samples of the
1000 at http://www.LeoQuinn.com/1000.html

You can see other ways to make extra money that have worked for me
at http://www.LeoQuinn.com/moremoney.html

I got a lot of nice feedback on the "Money Is My Friend" book I
excerpted in  two previous newsletters.  You can read about that
book at http://www.LeoQuinn.com/moneyfriend.html

Need some fast cas*h? Look in your closet! I know right now
I'm sitting on at least $ 2000 worth of stuff I could sell on eBay.
If you know "how to" eBay, get started. If not here is a
great resource I've found...
