Thanks for reading.
On July 22nd around 11PM I turned off
my computer and didn't turn it back on
until yesterday, Monday July 30th.
This is the second year I've done this
and it was surprisingly easy.
If you can cut that cord for a week
I highly recommend it!
A week unplugged gives you a LOT of time
to do other stuff. I even cleaned out the
garage!
I really wish someone took a picture so I
can prove it was actually me who did it.
Anyway, I did a lot of reading and I was
reminded about one of the "secrets" of
my success.
I can't recall exactly who said it or
what the exact quote is but the essence
is that you should teach what you most want
to learn.
That is the main reason I started teaching
my class less than 60 days after learning
this all, way back in 1997.
I knew that if there was any hope for me
to stick with it, I needed to be held
accountable.
How can you use this principle in your
life to make better financial choices?
Got kids? Make a serious effort to
educate them about the pitfalls of
debt. Get them started with the habit
of saving long before they have any debt.
Got friends? Start a group who are
committed to helping each other get
out of debt.
Use "How To Own Your
Paycheck Again!" as a study guide.
Have awards for paying off a debt.
Brainstorm ways to make extra money.
Everything is easier as a group.
I know people are reluctant to let
others know how much debt they have.
OK...no need to tell...simply let your
group know about the debt you are
working on paying off.
Come up with a creative name for your
group but don't include the word "debt"
in the name.
Let us know the name of yours.
